Dear Parents, Well-Wishers, and Friends,

While medical advancements are saving more fragile lives than ever before, survival is often just the beginning of a long journey. Parents of such children continue to face significant life-long hurdles which are not limited to navigating cognitive and educational difficulties and managing Physical and medical needs, they have to address their complex emotional requirements that demand long-term care and deep understanding. Many children in our society face developmental challenges stemming from congenital or environmental factors.

Observing the lack of structured support in Tier-II cities like Kanpur, where parents often feel helpless and without guidance, I realized that a change was necessary. This led to the birth of “AMRITA”—envisioned not just as a school for special children, but as a shelter, a support system, and a second home for them. Our mission is to combine compassionate care with contemporary rehabilitation and educational practices that respect the unique individuality of every child.

In December 2009, I began my crusade as a tribute to my mother. What started with just two children and a small, dedicated team of specialists has grown into a well-known brand “AMRITA “ Despite initial hurdles—such as a shortage of professionals and limited societal sensitivity—our resolve has only strengthened through perseverance.

Today, “AMRITA” has grown into a close-knit family where children are nurtured with care, parents are supported with understanding, and every small achievement is celebrated. What keeps us moving forward is the trust placed in us and the smiles that reflect progress, howsoever small.

Realizing the need for expansion , we have extended our rehabilitation services in the heart of the city as “Vital Steps.” Understanding the need for children and parents to travel far to achieve our services, we have started a rehabilitation centre at Regency Kannauj also.

The philosophy that guides AMRITA is beautifully captured in the words of Robert Frost:

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep”

These lines remind us that our responsibility towards these children continues with compassion, commitment, and hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Warm Regards,
